MAKE BENUE STATE PROUD----DR. EUNICE ORTOM CHARGES INVINCIBLE ANGELS FOOTBALL TEAM
The invincible Angels Football club of Benue State has been
urged to make the state proud in the forthcoming Nigeria women professional
football league.
Dr. Eunice Ortom, wife of the Governor of Benue State gave
the charge today when she received the Board, coaching crew and players of the
club who paid her a visit at the Benue Peoples House.
She advised the players to be worthy ambassadors of the state
through their conduct.
Dr. Mrs. Ortom lauded the girls for channeling their energy
properly, and urged them to be a mirror of inspiration to other ladies of their
age.
The wife of the Governor expressed joy with the exploits of
the team and gave an assurance to provide motherly support at all times
“I am an advocate for the rights of women to actualize their
dreams and showcase their potentials” she said.
On football, Dr. Mrs Ortom had these words “Football has more
support of people in the world and is an all-round profitable game. It keeps
people healthy and it’s also a lucrative activity which nations continue to
benefit from”.
Earlier, State Commissioner for Sports, Lawrence Onoja Jr. lauded
the contributions of Dr. Mrs. Ortom to sports and sought her support and
blessings to the team to enable it win the league.
The invincible Angels women football club is the pride of
Benue State in Nigeria women football. The club which started in 2000 has since
won many trophies, and produced players such as Francisca Ordega who now plays
in USA, Loveth Ayila who plies her trade in China as well as Soo Adekwagh, who
plays professional football in Finland.
