DO NOT DEFAULT IN PAYMENT OF LOANS ---Dr. Mrs. Ortom counsels women as capacity building training and Empowerment scheme kicks off in Benue State.
The First Benue Women Economic summit organized by Eunice Spring of Life Foundation ESLF was held in November 2016 in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.
Over one thousand women across the three senatorial districts participated and Eighty four of them were selected to participate in capacity building to enable them benefit from an Empowerment scheme.
While the CBN North Central Entrepreneurship Development Center is involved through its capacity building module that has a standardized entrepreneurship curriculum, the Bank of Agriculture is to provide soft loans to the trained women.
Founder, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation and Wife of the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom had words for the women “we want to discourage ideas that the Benue women is a defaulter in loan payment. That is why we want to train you so that when you get the loan, you will know how to utilize it properly and be able to pay back”.
Dr. Ortom noted that the long term impact of the project would be realized through the reduction of poverty among women, provision of economic power as well as development of confidence in them to be self-reliant.
According to her, it will also help them to create economic opportunities for more people to key in and make meaningful livelihoods.
She emphasized the importance of the Benue women to be supported to realize her potentials particularly in Agriculture, maintaining that Benue State has the potential to be the food Basket of Africa.
While expressing happiness over the turn out of the women for the training, Dr. Ortom urged the participants to take the training seriously to help themselves and the foundation to achieve the goal of the project.

There were goodwill messages from the program manager ESLF, Ginnette Saloma, State officer and Branch manager of Bank of industry and Bank of Agriculture, Director CBN  North Central Entrepreneurship Development Centre as well as the State ministry of women affairs.#
