ESLF HOLDS DINNER NIGHT ON FIRST ANNIVERSARY










Eunice Spring of life Foundation ESLF, the NGO of wife of the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom has stepped up efforts towards the construction of an oncology centre in Benue State.
“Already, we have secured land where the centre will be built” Dr. Ortom stated on Sunday evening at the dinner party to mark the one year anniversary of ESLF, at Doo palace hotel in Makurdi, the state capital.
“It is our hope that the centre would be completed and commissioned before the second anniversary of the foundation”, she said.
The founder of ESLF who expressed commitment to see as many people with cancer survive the condition, informed the gathering that ESLF was already supporting the treatment of fourteen (14) patients at the Benue State university teaching hospital makurdi.
“The foundation has treated people through partnership and collaboration with medical practitioners and organizations. We have equally off set a lot of hospital bills in order to care for the health condition of vulnerable people. We have assisted over eighty (80) people who are in need of surgical operations”.
The wife of the Governor highlighted other areas which success has been recorded like Agriculture and Education.
“Our efforts are yielding fruitful results in the lives of small scale rural farmers. We have championed the cause of girl child education and increased interest of students in science based courses”
Various speakers at the event lauded the far reaching achievement of ESLF.
“I am surprised at how much ESLF has been able to achieve within just one year”, wife of former Governor of Benue State, Mrs. Regina Akume said, maintaining that the NGO will do much more for the people by the time it gets older.
Mrs Akume who expressed satisfaction with ESLF commitment to fight cancer, stated the resolve of her NGO, Hope alive foundation to partner with ESLF to add value to the campaign to reduce cancer.
On his part, the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre FMC, Dr. Peteru Inunduh affirmed that ESLF has stretched its hand of support to many indigent patients at the FMC by settling their bills.
Dr. Mrs. Ortom’s undying passion for humanitarian work was identified as the driving force for the success of ESLF by Dr. Mrs Magdalyne Dura, special adviser to the Governor on SDG’s NEPAD and Development Cooperation.
She prayed God to enable the NGO soar.
Earlier, programme officer of ESLF, Mrs. Ginnette Saloma-Ikpaahindi informed the gathering that 100 students in secondary and tertiary institutions have benefitted from ESLF scholarship, while over 300 had JAMB forms purchased for them, with over 700 women empowered.
Some beneficiaries of the programmes of ESLF including a cancer survivor, Patricia Egwu, and a rehabilitated drug addict Orgem Agaku were on hand to testify to the assistance from ESLF
Guest were thrilled with musical presentation by Benue born musical artists including Rapizo, Eugeneous the great and Philon Brown, who all sang lyrics competing for the official theme song of the foundation.
There was also the official unveiling of maiden edition of ESLF magazine.
